Lars E. Carlsson from Sweden

Lars E. Carlsson

Lars E. Carlsson was born and raised in Sweden. He learned to play the piano at the age of nine and an acoustic guitar when he turned 14. Lars started to write songs in 1960 and soon wrote songs with music publisher Stig Anderson, who later became the manager and lyricist of ABBA.

In the 1960’s Lars worked as a label manager and the main artist on that label was the band Hep Stars, in which Benny Andersson from ABBA started his songwriting career. In the early 1970s Lars worked as a studio musician (bass player) together with numerous Swedish artists and bands. He also worked as a musician for the famous film director Ingmar Bergman.

Lars has (co-)written around 2.500 songs. Some 700 of them were recorded by artists from Sweden. A few of his songs were written for international artists in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Finland. His songs were also used in various Hollywood movies.

I met Lars through the internet and in 2017 we collaborated for the first time which resulted in our song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018: “Gone With The Wind”. I sure hope that we can continue to write songs together.
