The Idea

For songwriters who donīt sing or perform it is extremely hard to make oneīs mark in the music business because they donīt have a platform to present and promote their work. This is more or less the situation that Robert Baitinger, a songwriter from Germany, has been confronted with since he started writing songs in 1978. Robertīs idea is to complement his songwriting capabilities with the "helping hands" of excellent artists and innovative producers. In the age of the internet it has become easier to communicate and collaborate with musicians and producers all over the world. Robert is utilizing the internet and pursuing the idea of a conceptional studio band with a frequently changing lineup of artists. He calls this project the "Rob B. Project" since he supplies the basic melody and lyrics of a song and other musicians/producers contribute their talents and skills to make it come to life. This is the theme of his first album which Robert calls "Helping Hands". Up to now Robert has collaborated with several well-known international talents:

  • Songwriter, artist and producer Andrew Gold, the pop/rock legend from the 70s and 80s who produced his songs "Did You Get What You Want" and "Tell Me".
  • Oliver Schwarz, a music producer who introduced Robert to Lotti Epp. Lotti who has worked together with R. Kelly, Mousse T and Roachford sang the vocals of the song "Now That Youīre Gone".
  • Songwriter, artist and producer Joe Milton from Dallas, Texas. His music can be heard on such television shows as "Desperate Housewives", "Malcolm in the Middle" and "American Family" and he has worked together with JD Fortune from INXS and Jon Anderson from the famous rock band Yes. Joe performed and produced Robertīs songs "Desperate Moves", "Raining In My Heart" and "Why Canīt A Lifetime Last Forever".
  • Matt Ingram sang the lead vocals on "I Just Wanna Know". Matt and his band won the Battle of the Bands contest where he performed live in front of an audience of 70.000 people.
  • Annagrey Labasse who sang the lead vocals on "One More Try" and background vocals on "Desperate Moves" and "I Just Wanna Know" is a singer/songwriter herself and was a finalist in Oprahīs Pop Star Challenge in 2006. She has worked together with well-known artists like LeAnn Rimes.

The "Rob B. Project" started when Robert met his pop/rock idol Andrew Gold in L.A. in 2004 and they recorded and produced a song Robert had written in 1987 called "Did You Get What You Want". For Robert the encounter was a dream come true, once in a lifetime experience and the events that followed and the success of his first single were not foreseeable and very motivating. Andrew and Robert teamed up again in 2006 to produce "Tell Me".

In 2008 Robert wanted to try to repeat the success he had with his first song and chose Oliver Schwarz from Wonderland Music for his next production. They selected a piano ballad Robert had written in 2005 called "Now That Youīre Gone". Lotti Eppīs exceptional vocal performance makes this a standout production.

Again in 2008 he teamed up with Joe Milton to produce "Desperate Moves", "One More Try" and "I Just Wanna Know". These songs were produced remotely. Joe and Rob never met personally. Later that year after Joe and Robert had finally met, Joe produced "Raining In My Heart" and "Why Canīt A Lifetime Last Forever".

What started as the realization of a lifetime dream for Robert has evolved to become serious business.

Robert Baitinger was born on May 3, 1960 in Panama City, Florida. He grew up in Florida, Illinois and Indiana. In 1973 he followed his parents to Germany.

At the age of 8 Robertīs mother taught him to play keyboards. He discovered his passion for songwriting in 1978. Since then he has written over 100 songs that have not been released yet. In February, 2004 he wanted to find out what his songs would sound like when professionally produced and recorded. For this project he teamed up with Andrew Gold in QBRAIN Studios near Hollywood. "Did You Get What You Want" is his first single.

In the meantime Robert founded his own record label called RCB Music and in 2005 he released his single at well-known internet music portals worldwide such as iTunes, AOL, Musicload.de, etc.

In 2006 both Andrew and Robert met again to produce new songs that Robert had recently written for the project.

In 2008 Robert decided to produce some new songs with different artists and chose Oliver Schwarz from Wonderland Music in Germany and Joe Milton from JoMusik Recording Studios in Dallas.
