Did You Get What You Want -
"Did You Get What
You Want" is a song about the final phase of a couple´s partnership
when he finds out that she is cheating on him. This sad story is told from a male
perspective at a point in their relationship where he does not know how to move on.
Feelings of anger, sadness, resignation, hope and melancholia are
cleverly mixed together in this musical masterpiece. Robert Baitinger wrote the song in
1987 and Andrew Gold made it come to life when adding the finishing touches in the studio
during the recording in 2004.
The production consists of strong rock and pop elements combined
with extremely catchy melodies and a sing-along refrain. The lyrics are sensual
and well-worded, with an excellent flow. Written critiques say the music has a strong pop
appeal with a nice 70´s vibe that the listener won´t be able to get enough of. The
emotional ups and downs of the described situation are brilliantly mapped to the musical
interpretation of the song. The title is a perfect choice.
Andrew´s powerful lead vocals emphasize the
emotional sentiment of the song and the complex background vocals from Andrew and Robert
are expertly mixed. The musical composition is potent and lively with compelling
musicianship that highlights the outstanding underlying melodies. The arrangement flows
seamlessly with the progression of the song. The choice of instruments is excellent and
the blend of rhythm and solo guitars really make the song rock. It is hard to believe that
this production is a one-man show with Andrew Gold playing all of the instruments. The
production has exceptional qualities from beginning to end. The song fits into the
timeless Southern California mold pioneered by the likes of the Eagles,
Linda Ronstadt, America and Jackson Browne, among others. Fans of this style of music will
be very pleased with this song.
Andrew Gold, a pop star from the 70s (Lonely Boy, Thank You For
Being A Friend) and former WAX member (Right Between The Eyes, Bridge To Your Heart)
produced this song mid February, 2004 at QBRAIN Studios in his home near
Hollywood, California. Andrew is famous for his instrumental and vocal virtuosity. He gave
this production its distinctive West Coast sound.
Robert Baitinger, a songwriter from Germany has a collection of over
100 unreleased tracks. He recorded a demo version of this song at his home together with
his kids and sent it via email to Andrew. Their common musical taste made it easy for them
to reach a consensus whenever questions occured during the joint recording session.
In 2004 the song got repeated airplay time from various radio
stations like Radio Hochstift, a local radio station in Paderborn, Germany, SWR3, the big
German pop radio station and an internet radio station called ICON Radio in Liverpool. The
overwhelming public response attracted the attention of the music publisher Wolfgang Jahn
of NiWo Music in Essen, Germany. NiWo Music plans to release the single
and make it available at the well-known internet platforms such as Finetunes, iTunes,
AOL, Musicload, etc. Andrew Gold also plans on including this song on his upcoming
new album "Singer Songwriter". In this production Andrew and Robert call
themselves "Rob B. featuring Andrew Gold". In the future they would like to team
up again for another recording if they can synchronize their busy time schedules.

After becoming available at the internet download platforms
the song entered the play lists of various radio stations around the world, mainly in the
U.S., Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. Serveral stations highlighted "Did You
Get What You Want" in 2006 on their hot rotation list, playing it up to 6 times per
day.

- Tell Me -
Robert wrote "Tell Me" in 2005 and as with many of his songs he had
the problem of finding the proper title. While he took a break he noticed that his kids
were watching the film "Ghost" on TV. He briefly saw a scene
where Demi Moore was very disappointed that Patrick Swayze could not express his true
feelings by simply saying that he loved her. Every time she said that she loved him, he
responded by saying "ditto". Immediately Robert noticed that he had just found
the title and motif of his new song and wrote most of the lyrics that same evening,
portions of which were later slightly modified together with Andrew Gold
in QBRAIN Studios.
This song is of very high commercial value with an
extremely catchy melody and an underlying line that almost everybody likes "tell me
you love me". This love song can be classified as mainstream pop with keyboards used
as the dominant instrument but also finely complemented by acoustic and electric guitars.
The complexity of the background vocals increases as the song progresses. This song was
uniquely produced using typical music elements of the late 80s pop scene but
simultaneously making it sound amazingly fresh and new. Even though over five minutes of
playing time is not typical for singles, the clever arrangement gives the listener the
impression of a shorter song.

Now That You´re Gone -
"Now That
You´re Gone" is a farewell song that Robert wrote for his late father
in 2005 and was produced by Oliver Schwarz as a melancholic love song.
The lyrics are cleverly worded to make the song fit almost any sad break-up situation.
What starts as a soft piano-centric ballad, builds emotionally as it progresses and winds
down in the interlude. The song peaks musically with a guitar solo and high-pitched vocals
only to quietly end again with a soft piano. Lotti Epp´s exceptional
vocal performance lifts this song to a higher level of musicality. Her vocals are unique
even though they do resemble those of Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. Her performance
is so emotional that some listeners might even feel the urge to shed a tear while
listening. She boosts the emotional tension and gives this song a unique style that, like
all of Robert´s songs, sounds familiar but still new.

Desperate Moves -
Robert wrote this rock song in 1987. Originally it was an
instrumental track with duelling guitars. He added the lyrics 20 years later. What is the
song about? Robert: "I saw a scene on TV where a very attractive woman participated
in a chess competition and played against a handsome young guy. Her appearence constantly
distracted him and I came up with the idea of a guy falling in love with a beautiful
female opponent during a game of chess. He wants to win her heart and the match at the
same time, which is virtually impossible. He constantly makes Desperate Moves, on the
chessboard and otherwise."
Robert selected a latin rock style for this track
and wanted powerful and distinctive guitar solos. The producer and excellent guitar player
Joe Milton was a perfect fit for this song. Jeff Plant played the bass
guitar and Jorge Genario added percussion. Joe played all the other instruments and sang
the lead vocals. Additional background vocals were contributed by Annagrey Labasse .
This song was produced in Dallas, Texas without Robert and Joe ever meeting personally.
They jointly exchanged MP3s and emails to create this production. The song demonstrates
that Robert cannot only write pop songs and ballads but also songs with a stronger beat.

A Girl I Wish I´d Never Met -
Robert wrote this song in 1979, one of the first songs he ever
wrote. He recorded this demo version of the song late 2006, just after he bought his
Yamaha Tyros 2 keyboards. What sounds like various guitars is in reality Robert playing
the keyboards.
Like many of Robert´s songs, this one expresses a very melancholic
mood. It is about a guy who reflects on a relationship that, from the start, he
knew had no future. Like in many situations, you see disaster coming, but there is nothing
you can do to avoid it. The guy expends all of his energy knowing it´s a waste of time,
yet continues on helplessly anyway. As one says: love can make you blind.
On this track Robert played all the instruments himself and
recorded the lead and background vocals on his own. There were no "Helping
Hands" on this specific track.
Robert entered this track in the "Song of the
Year" songwriting contest and became a finalist in the category "Best
Pop Song" which will earn him access to labels, publishers, promoters, management
companies, and more.

| - I
Just Wanna Know - Robert wrote this song together with his son Leon, who was 11
years old at the time. It was the first song they ever wrote together. Leon started
playing a great sounding sequence of chords and Robert spontaneously started singing some
vocals. Just minutes later the song was done. Robert created a demo of the song that same
day and sent it to Joe Milton who immediately decided to produce the song.
It´s about a teenage boy who falls in love with a girl he meets. He
is hesitant to give his heart away because he is afraid it could lead to a broken heart.
Joe Milton did a great job on the guitars. Jeff Plant played the bass guitar and Jason
"JT" Thomas drums. Matt Ingram contributed a spectacular vocal
performance and Annagrey Labasse sang the background vocals.

More Try - Robert wrote this song for close friends whose marriage was
breaking up. In this song he urged them to give their relationship "One More
Try". This song is extremely emotional with a killer chorus. Robert: "One
evening I started playing the piano and 10 minutes later I had this tune done. I wrote the
complete lyrics half an hour later. This was one of the fastest songs I ever wrote."
Joe Milton produced the track at JoMusik Studios in Dallas and Annagrey
Labasse contributed a spectacular vocal performance. The choice of instruments is
perfect for the song. Joe played all the instruments himself.

| - The
Anthem - Robert originally wrote The
Anthem in 1987 as a country song. 20 years later he recorded the melody on top of a Celtic-sounding
accompaniment style with a lot of bagpipes to create this instrumental track. The
underlying melody is extremely catchy.

Tranquility - Robert wrote
Tranquility during the final stage of his father´s cancer sickness. At that
time he was often at his parents´ house supporting his Mom. His dad spent most of the day
sleeping. It was a sad but very peaceful and quiet atmosphere. That set the stage for this
melancholic instrumental. His father passed away just a few days after he
finished writing this song. Robert: My dad heard it a couple of times and I think he
really liked it.
